A district-level science, mathematics, and environment exhibition was held at Dilma A’pal Higher Secondary School at Resubelpara in North Garo Hills district to inculcate scientific temperament among students.
The theme of the exhibition was “Technology and Toys” and eight schools participated in the event under various sub-themes such as a mathematical solution in everyday life and eco-friendly materials.
The best model award was received by Don Bosco higher secondary school, Mendal, who will now represent the district in the state-level science exhibition.
During the programme, M-tabs were distributed to students as part of the Chief Minister’s programme that aims to empower higher secondary school students with digital learning aid.
The deputy speaker and local MLA, Timothy D Shira while addressing the students, encouraged them to develop a scientific temperament. He said that science was part and parcel of everyday life and therefore students should develop interest in science which would enable them to solve everyday problems through the application of scientific method.
Z J Sangma, ADC, was the guest of honour and in his speech asked students to remove the fear involved with science.
He added that students should have positive mindset towards science so as to help discover innovative ideas to solve everyday problems.
